GR to add four more social districts

The city of Grand Rapids is expanding the social district program by adding four new zones.

On Tuesday, the city OK'd districts on Plainfield Avenue in the Creston area, at Fourth and Stocking on the city's west side, on West Leonard Street west of Turner Avenue and on Michigan Street NE near Eastern Avenue.

The goal of the districts is to help bars and restaurants as they have dealt with capacity restrictions.

The zones allow customers to carry alcoholic beverages within the district.
