Some area health dept. won't order close contact quarantining at schools

The health departments in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Ionia counties say they will not require school districts follow the state's COVID clos contact quarantine guidelines, however they will suggest it.

The departments said the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services notified them the student quarantines would be mandated at the local level rather than state.

Officials said due to falling case rates and an increase in vaccinations, they will respond to schools on a case-by-case basis.

School employees will have to quarantine by state order.
