The state prison in Ionia has identified a case of the B.1.1.7 variant.
The Michigan Department of Corrections did not specify if the patient was a worker or a prisoner at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility.
This is the first case of the variant in a state prison.
Michigan has now recorded 61 cases of the variant.
