Activist Makes Apparent Threat After Trustees Vote to Keep Statue

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - A monument that some consider to be controversial will remain in Allendale Township following a vote by trustees late Tuesday.

The statue at the township's veterans garden features a confederate soldier, a union soldier and a slave boy.

Mitch Kahle, the civil rights activist who brought concerns about the statue to the forefront, issued what appeared to be a threat during a public comment session.

"It's not a matter of if that statue's coming down, it's when it's coming down. We know it's coming down," Kahle said.
