Prolific Actor Kirk Douglas Dies At 103

(Los Angeles, CA) -- One of the legends of Hollywood's "Golden Age" is dead.

Kirk Douglas passed away at the age of 103.

His film debut was in 1946 opposite Barbara Stanwyck in "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers." Other roles followed, including that of an unscrupulous boxing hero in the 1949 classic "Champion" which made him an international star and earned him his first Oscar nomination. Some of his most famous films included "Young Man with a Horn," "Paths of Glory," and "Spartacus."

He is also the father of actor Michael Douglas.

He received three Academy Award nominations. He never took home the gold for any of his performances. However, he did receive an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also an author, having written ten novels as well as memoirs.
