$5K reward offered in Niles gun shop burglary

NILES, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators are offering an award for information leading to the people who smashed a stolen car into a gun store in Niles and stole several weapons.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is partnering with the Niles Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation to offer a reward of up to $5,000.

The burglary happened shortly around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday at The Firing Pin on 5th Street in Niles. Investigators say four thieves crashed a stolen vehicle into the store, then stole more than 10 guns.

The ATF said Sunday that the same burglars may be responsible for other robberies nearby.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the ATF at 1.800.ATF.GUNS (4867) or Niles police at 1.269.683.0404, or submit a tip online to ATFTips@atf.gov or through reportit.com.
