GRPD cruiser stolen as officer responds to fight

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in custody after Grand Rapids police say he stole a police cruiser while an officer responded to a fight.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Leonard Street NW east of Walker Avenue NW around 4 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a fight and a man with a gun.

Dispatchers told 24 Hour News 8 as police approached the home, the suspect ran from the scene.
