Pastor's shooting death in Byron Township 'suspicious'

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department says the shooting death of a pastor near Byron Center is suspicious.

Authorities are not releasing the pastor’s name, but said he is a 66-year-old from Byron Center.

His body was found just before 6 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of 68th Street SW between Burlingame and Clyde Park avenues in Byron Township. The sheriff's department said someone called 911 to report they had found a gunshot victim lying alongside the road next to his GMC Envoy. The caller said the SUV had a tire jack under it and it looked like the man had been working on it.
