ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Ionia County Sheriff's Office believes a man who died at a campground Wednesday had a medical problem.
Authorities said the call came in around 10:30 a.m. as a possible drowning at Lakeside Resort and Campground, located at 750 E. Grand River Avenue in Orange Township, south of Ionia. However, investigators now believe the 61-year-old man suffered a medical issue, possibly a heart attack, causing him to fall in the water.
Rescuers pulled the man from the water and tried to revive him, but he died.
Authorities are not identifying the man, but say he was a Lansing area man and not a registered camper.
