MI students' racist 'promposal' sparks probe, questions

VERMONTVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — An Eaton County school district says it’s investigating a racist “promposal” posted on Instagram.

Maple Valley High School student Grace Guernsey told NBC Lansing affiliate WILX that she spotted the photo of her two classmates smiling, holding up a racist sign on Saturday.  WILX is not identifying the students because they are minors and they were not able to reach them for comment.

"It’s kind of sad. I don't think they meant offense by it, but they are just uneducated about what really was going on at that time. Yes, it’s not happening now, but we don't need reminders of what happened in the past...we know," Guernsey said.
