ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford couple welcomed their 14th child into the world Wednesday.
And, beating the odds, the baby is also Jay and Kateri Schwandt's 14th son.
The Schwandts said they went to the hospital Wednesday morning and were sent home around 2:30 p.m. They got home and decided right away it was time to go back.
Born at 5:56 p.m., the baby is 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 21 inches.
The Schwandts haven't decided on a name yet for their new son.
They didn't know leading up to the birth whether the child would be a boy or girl. Jay Schwandt told 24 Hour News 8 in February he would be happy to have a daughter, but was skeptical it would happen.
He also said child No. 14 would be the last — but his wife noted he also said that after no. 13.
