GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver who hit a pregnant woman, her infant son and another woman walking in Grand Rapids is heading to prison.
A judge Tuesday sentenced Javier Cano-Monarrez to 12 to 30 years in prison in connection to the September 2016 crashalong Grandville Avenue SW in Grand Rapids.
Authorities said Cano-Monarrez told them he saw the two women walking and decided to kill them by running them over. One of the women was pregnant and pushing a stroller carrying a 1-year-old boy at the time of the crash; they were all badly hurt, but survived.
