Driver of car in 2017 Kzoo bus collision arrested

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The driver of a car that slammed into a Kalamazoo Metro Transit bus last year has been arrested, according to jail records. 

Friday, 59-year-old Michael Duane Spencer was arrested for reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function. He is being lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. 

The crash happened on May 24, 2017 in the area of W. Michigan Avenue/South Street at Oakland Drive in Kalamazoo. Spencer was allegedly going 108 mph five seconds before the crash and hit the bus head-on at 102 mph.
