WB I-96 reopens after crash; 2 flown to hospital

BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) —  Authorities shut down westbound I-96 for several hours Tuesday to handle a serious crash involving a U-haul and semi-truck.

It happened around 10 a.m. on I-96 at Nash Highway in Boston Township, west of Clarksville and near the border for Kent County and Ionia County.

Kent County dispatchers told 24 Hour News 8 Aero Med was called to the scene. Michigan State Police said two people in the U-Haul truck were airlifted to the hospital with injuries.

Authorities shut down westbound I-96 for about four hours.  It reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
