A Muskegon man's homicide in prison was due to blunt force trauma, according to his death certificate.

Dustin Allen Szot, 24, died Sept. 27, 2016, in the Michigan Department of Corrections' Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, after a fight with another prisoner. MLive Muskegon Chronicle obtained a copy of his death certificate, which lists Szot's death as a homicide.  

The Muskegon native died as a result of a blunt force trauma injury sustained during the physical altercation, according to his death certificate. A blow during Szot's physical altercation tore or lacerated an artery in his neck, causing a subarachnoid hemorrhage, according to the death certificate. A subarachnoid hemorrhage bleeding between the brain and surrounding membrane, according to the Mayo Clinic
