Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has announced plans for a rapid-response team to help Michigan and its businesses in the event of a major computer attack.

Details of the Cyber Civilian Corp were released Friday as part of the 2013 Michigan Cyber Summit in the Detroit suburb of Novi.

Cyber Civilian Corp would include volunteers from government, education and business.

The Michigan Cyber Summit is designed to help Michigan defend against computer attacks and position the state to take advantage of opportunities in the growing cyber security industry. It's a follow up to a similar event in 2011.

According to the state, the Michigan government blocked 187,000 computer attacks each day in 2012. The attacks ranged from spam to web browser attacks to network intrusion.
