The family members and friends of murdered Grand Rapids police officer Bobby Kozminski are working to  build a memorial to him, and other fallen police officers.

They envision some kind of a tribute in Richmond park on the cities west side.  14 other city police officers have died in the line of duty over the years.  Kozminski was ambushed by Jeffrey Van Vels on July 8th, 2007.  Van Vels was hiding in a garage and as the officer walked up the driveway Van Vels shot him in the face with a shotgun from behind a window in his garage.

The memorial will cost at least $30-thousand dollars, and so far the supporters have only collected $ 3 thousand.
