The cost of a double room in Michigan State University's dormitories is going up by just under four percent.

The school says the 3.95 percent increase, approved by the MSU Board of Trustees this morning, will put the total housing and dining cost next year at $9,154. The hike is needed to take care of increased operating expenses and the servicing of a quarter of a (b) billion dollar debt related to campus renovations.

MSU says despite the increase, its housing and dining costs "remain a bargain."
