Today a Muskegon Marine will be reunited with the dog who went through combat with him in Afghanistan.

Jeff DeYoung, a graduate of Jenison High school, trained the dog Cena and then walked ahead of all the other Marines to sniff-out and disarm those deadly IED roadside bombs.

DeYoung tells WOOD TV he formed a "brother bond" with Cena iover nine months of combat duty and although the dog stayed in Afghanistan for another tour of duty, DeYoung came home.

When he learned Cena was, in effect, being retired he volunteered to take care of his canine 'brother', picking him up in Detroit this morning.
