If you ever wanted to get some information from a local government but did not know how to go about it, now there's a website where you can generate an easy Freedom Of Information Act request.
Jeff Steinport, Kent County Taxpayers Alliance, tells WOOD Radio that is one feature of their new "Open Government Project" web page.
He said it expands on the Alliance's mission of trying to open local governments, with a page that compares the taxes in each community and another that ranks the local school districts.
There is other information, as well, including a page that will generate an automatic Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA or "foy-ya") request, which is the right of any citizen. As the page warns, though, governments may demand you pay their clerical time in putting the information together.
