Grand Rapids city hall says half the city's pools will open this summer.

However, the pools will not open until July.  They will remain open only for six weeks.

Grand Rapids' Public Services director James Hurt tells WOOD TV says the price remains the same, $1 for city kids under 17 and $2 for older residents.

This year, however, there is no private donor willing to put up money for the operation.  City hall will pay all the cost from its tax-funded budget.

Hurt says they're looking for other options, which may include selling the pools.

The three pools opening in July are at Richmond (pictured), Martin Luther King, and Briggs parks.
