Holland Horse Drawn Carriage Runs Out of Control

Holland Horse Drawn Carriage Runs Out of Control
Posted July 4th, 2014 @ 3:09am by WOOD Radio News Team

A guy on a skateboard spooked the horse-drawn tourist carriage in the city of Holland Thursday night around 8:30.

The horse bolted through the crowded downtown, around 8th and Central Avenue.   It knocked over a  69-year old woman from Ionia, who had to be treated at the hospital.

Two blocks later the horse ran the carriage into a car, broke free of its traces, then circled around another few blocks before police and bystanders were able to calm the animal down.

The passengers in the carriage were not hurt.

Police would like to find the guy with the skateboard who started the whole thing, just "to  speak to the male subject ...who did not stay in the area to be identified."

If you can help with that, call Sgt. Jon Boeve at 616-355-1737 or via email at
